Design Nutrition is about connecting people and families with the tools, education and skills they need to live their healthiest and most energetic lives. We do this by creating a dynamic relationship between the wellness expert and the individual.
Design nutrition provides a personalized experience to nutrition recommendations by tailoring, or "designing" a road map that is based on the individual's unique bio-individuality, while considering factors such as sleep, stress, environment, and preferences.
There are no two people on the planet that are exactly the same. In the words of Gretchen Rubin, we are not all that different, but our differences are important.
Design Nutrition focuses on the nuances that make a person an individual, and in doing so, creates a roadmap that leads to permanent and sustainable changes.

THE RELATIONSHIP:
Design Nutrition experts honor, listen and respond to individual differences. By creating a relationship that is built on respect and empathy, the client is free to share all factors that limit them. We identify barriers and challenges, whether that be unsupportive family members, or limiting belief systems, or lack of cooking skills.
Design Nutrition is committed to getting results. Design nutrition is not about getting fast results if doing so compromises long-term sustainability. Design Nutrition focuses on creating systems and processes that get results, addressing the challenges to short and long-term goal achievement. Many diets will produce weight loss; Not many diets focus on losing weight and keeping it off. Design Nutrition provides tools for clients and families to lose the habits, behaviors and mindset that prevent permanent weight loss.
Health is not defined by a number on a scale, however, energy excess and excess body adiposity is associated with many conditions that reduce a person's quality of life and puts them at greater disease risk. Design nutrition will not contribute to weight and size discrimination, and simply seeks to empower inidividuals to be fit and to consume high-quality foods in the right amounts. Weight Loss is an outcome of changed behaviors and systems rather than a goal in and of itself.
Design Nutrition is rooted in evidence-based treatments. With that said, health and fitness is nuanced and we will employ different methods, at different times, depending on what is right for that individual at that time. We are committed to personalized health and nutrition which ultimately means matching the right person with the right nutrition at the right time. Diets need not be dogmatic and static, but rather should be created to evolve over time, with the individual. Design nutrition acknowledges that individuals will require personalized diets. There is no one diet that is right for a person at all times. We avoid diet dogma.
Design nutrition seeks to provide structure where needed, and flexibility where needed. Humans are a diverse and dynamic bunch, and their diet and health plan should bend and evolve with the person, not constrict or confine them to a single approach.
Design Nutrition recognizes the necessity of teamwork. A dietitian alone cannot help a person achieve their fittest and most vibrant selves. We believe in the interdisciplinary approach which means a dietitian is part of a team of other health professionals including, but not limited to health coaches, physicians, chiropractors. physiotherapists, fitness experts, life coaches, mental health counselors and spiritual health advisors. We are stronger together. Design nutrition provides results for the individual by connecting them with the people and tools they need.
